Tucson Writers Workshop - Resources For Writers
This is designed to be a resource center for those of us who like to write. The Internet is such a vast place that we can only begin to cover all the excellent sites out there. But we'll sample them together, and learn from the experience. This is also the place to share your favorite books with the rest of the group, using the comments section to leave your own list, and to tell us the reasons why.

Three of my favorite books are "Alice in Wonderland", "Peter Pan" and "The Tunnel in the Sky." And although on the surface, these three books seem to have little in common, on closer inspection they all deal with somewhere that is NOT here. Alice fell down a rabbit hole (or stepped through the looking glass). Wendy, Michael and John all flew away to a wonderful place far, far, away and the students in "Tunnel" crossed the universe to an unknown destination. So my favorite books are all about escaping this world to someplace much more interesting.
And I can add another favorite book that I remember from my childhood - "Harold and the Purple Crayon" in which Harold DREW his own world; I think I see a pattern here.
Way to go Rick! This really strikes a chord with me, as I was (still am, if the truth be told) literally obsessed with "The Wizard of Oz" Series, "The Chronicles of Narnia", and "A Wrinkle In Time". Now if you really enjoy escaping into a far country, try reading Philip Jose Farmer's "Riverworld" Series, Frank Herbert's "Dune" Series, and Robert Jordan's "The Wheel of Time" Series...which for my money, is the only setting that has ever compared to Middle Earth!
